Looks Good Garret!! are they still using a 3 inch opening out there? Here its 3.75. There is a guy down the road from me with a aqua-jet cutter. So i wanna talk to him about getting a custom one cut!

Careful torching on that cast ring as they are not super strong to begin with. Take too much material out and they can break. But looks good!

on off the trigger to get that roll of pennys look isnt very good for penetration. i can tell that wasnt one long consistant bead. it might look good but im sure its full of viods.

To add to what he said, one of the weakest parts of a weld are the start and the end of the weld. The start becasue there is the transisition from the base material to the weld material and that area is weak. Same thing at the end of the weld. The start and stop of a weld are good places for cracks to start. Best thing is to get the weld started and don't stop. This is hard to do without proper fixturing and or rotators. This is just scratching the surface. But that being said, the amount of use that a pulling hitch sees is basically nothing. The chance of a fatigue crack on a pulling his is non existant. You would have to hit tens of thousands of cycles to worry about that. So basically the hitch just has to hold the load once. You should be fine.

welds break from stress crack everyday...in adequate penetration will fail the first time or the last time..do u know hich one? maybe right at the end of the track wide open 40 ft from the finish in wauchula when it snaps....

I lay on the floor and put that **** in by myself weenie! Jr just laughs when I sit under the truck and put the transfer case in. Of coarse your truck is lower than mine. And im probably a little stronger than you.

well the hitch now has an adapter for a ball and works great for that too. the start/stop welding might not be the best but ive NEVER had a weld break so i think ill take my chances with it. i think with as high as i had the heat and as many passes as i made it will be fine. oh yeah, its a flag pole holder now too. so i can tow to the desert, pull people out when they get stuck, fly my flag, and never have to change the hitch.
