4 lo, 3rd, Tow/Haul That will get it done most of the time. After you really get to know the tracks & your truck you may choose to hold it in 2nd longer before YOU shift it to 3rd. Hope this helps

Do you have to shift these trucks or will it shift itself if you just put it in third? The reason I'm asking is because I understand the 6.0 fords start and stay in any gear you select. Not sure if that is true or not just what I was told.

If you put it in 3rd it will shift 1, 2, 3. If you put it in 2nd it will only shift 1, 2 & then to get 3rd you will have to bump it up to 3rd manually.

Mike, thats true, if you select 3rd, it is in third and stays there, whether Tow Haul is on or off. I usually start in second and about half track throw it into third. Seems to work better for me than using drive. Will the Dodge shift in Tow Haul?

On my 05 48re tow/haul on or off my truck goes to 4th(over drive) if I leave it in D and it shifts 1,2,3,4. Goes about 300 rpm's further before shifts with t/h on. The other difference is t/h locks the convertor between shifts of 3rd and 4th I belive.

OK lets all pile on. I would rather have 6 standing up instead of eight laying down:nod:

The Dually revolution has started.

How about this one?

I would rather have 8 laying down, than 6 standing up anyday:D

At my age, 4 laying down would be difficult:frusty:

4th gear is where its at. 3600 rpms in 4th=34mph wheels speed. Even you dodge boys cant touch that:D

The only time I pulled with my dually, Steve told me to put it in OD low... Lots of wheel speed without a hint of bogging.. Street tires may have been the reason.. Placed third.. Now it's all stock and heading to a new owner in Kansas next week.. My new dually is 2wd, so it will probably just see the strip.. It's probably a little overweight as well. haha..
