I have a few friends also, It's not so much purse but it's a long drive to come & just pull one day. I read here somewhere about a multiple day/weekend event somewhere in January? sry I don't have time to look now. Not sure of the dates though. We have hit about 15 this summer here in PA. I have not seen any that pay more than $100 for first place, and some are pretty large. Sure, the big sanctioned events may pay "alot", but those are few and far between.
