: Howdy
 Kind of new to the diesel thing. I bought my 05' Dooge (3500 SRW 4x4 Q-Cab SLT 6'Bed 48RE) in 2005 to pull my hobby, now the "Puller" is becoming the hobby :D My Dooge is as stock as it comes, there are no modifications to it at all. It's a virgin, but it was touched a few times by the Smarty with the TNT Race mode. :thumb:
Started heading to some Drags this year and a few Sled Pulls, just as a spectator. The Sled Pulls seems to be what I'm leaning towards.
And, looking to relocating myself to the Sunshine State. Few things need to be worked out up here (Connecticut), but I am truly looking into Florida. Mom is in Lake Mary and I've been to Florida more times than I can count :D The Fort Myers area is looking pretty promising. East Coast is out ;)
So, I'm just lurking around and trying to gather info on Pulling. Looking to see what areas of your State is the most active with the Diesel Truck scene.
And a question for you Pullers :D I've been reading a bit and it seems that traction bars are a must. Why not just loose the leafs and 4-link the rear, something like a double triangulated rear  Remember, I'm new to this, don't :whip: me too bad :D I also briefly went over some of the rules and they seem to like them stock leafs, is this the reason :D
MoPower05 10-19-2008, 08:47 AM Good choice on the coast west is best. Ft Myers is a nice place but over all you may have to do a little more traveling for the year. Most sled pulls are from Ft. Myers to Inverness and some east into the interior of the state. A Lot of us from the area go to the drag strip in Bradenton. Also GDP is in Sarasota ;). You have a big jump on the competion just by having an '05 dodge.:D
Tracton bars are cheaper than four linking your truck. You will need/want to spend that money in other places. Transmission, lift pump, tires, etc.

Like that 05' comment :D
Traveling is not an issue, due quite a bit of it up here. I have a buddy that lives 60 miles door to door, one way. I'm up at his place a few times a week. Traveling for the old hobby brought me many times from an hour from home to 38 hours from home. From Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and all the way out to Moab, Utah.
The cost of the suspension wouldn't really be an issue. I kind of have some roots in the Jeep suspension world and a close friend of mine (Clayton) manufactures Long-Arm Jeep suspensions (as well as making full blown buggies). We have talked a bit about fabbing a suspension for the Dodge and he's pretty interested in doing it. It's finding the time to make the measurements, putting it into the CAD software and getting it going. Hopefully over the winter, it will be completed. I have looked at lifts from many manufacturers, same stuff found under the Jeeps that I wouldn't put under mine never mind a vehicle that outweighs the Jeeps by at least 3000+ pounds. Since I'll be the prototype, the cost will be next to nothing. After reading some of the "Pulling" threads, I believe I'll be bringing my Dodge down to the shop sometime this week, so he can weld the axle tubes :D
After reading some of the rules, to modify the front to a Long-Arm and double triangulating the rear, it appears this would automatically throw me into that "Outlaw" class?
Here's my fading hobby due to the fact I'll be relocating to the Sunshine State...You guys lack rock :D

That's what I bought the Dodge for in the first place, now it is sliding into the top spot
Are you the same JP form the Zu? Bringing your Jeep?
Yep, that's me :D
As far as bringing Jeep, looking on selling it. If I was gonna go back to the rock crawling thing, I'd rather buy a used comp buggy and have Clayton redo the suspension. My ZJ lacks the Atlas and 60's. The 44's and ARB's were fine, but to keep up with my buddies, the ZJ just isn't strong enough. To go through the hassle of cutting down the 60's and reworking the tube work for the Atlas, then the driveshafts... Just better off buying something already done, like this:

edged dodge 10-19-2008, 06:40 PM Well all i have to say is that i love Fort myers. i live here its nice and housing is really cheap. When your down come stop at my work if you can. I work at action four wheel drive on fowler st.
Thanks Edged :thumb: I'll definitely keep that in mind and let ya know when. I maybe down for a good part of the winter, depends on what I have going on up here with work. The plans are to be down there though. I'll be towing a boat down for my buddy's parents that have a place in LaBelle off of 80 I believe.
Yes, the housing prices there was a main reason for that area. I may have some questions for ya about that area, I'll PM you in a day or so :thumb:
MrsTNRGreene 10-19-2008, 10:40 PM Welcome, it looks like your hobby is just as expensive as ours:) But in ours we hopefully keep all four tires on the ground at all times:eek::D

From what I hear, hooking up to the sled gets addicting  I'll tell ya this, I'm suffering from withdrawals from not rolling over in awhile. I can tell ya, rolling over is a great feeling and highly addicting. ;) I'm not looking to roll the Dooge :D EVER ;)
