well, i made mine like 2 weeks ago and now that there is a section ill post. if you notice something that needs to be changed let me know. i will be adding more bracing to the frame mount and rounding the edge of the axle mount.

i used 2" .120 wall tubing but am planning on sleeving it with some 2.5" .250 wall tubing.

Here are mine. They are ladder bar style. I made them myslef and they have been on my truck for almost 2 years now with no issues. Its a full floating setup. Works with trailers and full articulation also. And of course sled pulling:D.

Are there any rules about welding on a frame?

I think it used to be for holes like drilling holes on the web is ok but never drill holes on the flange. Just currious.

Also what about welding the brackets to the rear end housing. I know the race car guys will not even weld on spring perches without using alignment fixtures. Just seems to be the round tube is going to shrink where you weld the brackets on and not be 100% straight anymore. Maybe it not an issue.

This is why the kit i sell is all bolt on, no welding.

as long as you do it correctly, and dont get too much heat, youll be fine. What I mean is, weld a little, break, weld some more....

What about it? :noidea: Spring perches, flanges, shock mounts, tubes, etc. have all been welded to axles.

I glued a gnats azz to an Ants face one time. It provided me with hours of entertainment. I called it Azzface!

i welded a little, moved to another. welded a little, moved to another. went around in a circle until i was done. they have take a good beating so far.

getting up this required a lot of articulation as i went at an angle and no problem.

not to mention the repeated flogging it all night(burnouts, donuts, hard launches, off roading).

im happy so far.

Yup your right, and all before the ring pinon and axles have been set. We are talking two different things here.

But have you ever wondered what it does to the fit and pre-load on the axles. The axle is straight, or better be. If the tube is not 100% straight how do you think the fit between the axle and spider gear(S) is.

I just know from past experience. Whenever I have had any spring mounts moved on a rear housing it was done with a fixture to make sure a true alignment through the housing was maintained.
