Is it better to put the weight as far out front as possible? Or does it do the same thing when its up close to the bumper? Does height off the ground have any role too?

Higher up keeps you from hitting the scale when you drive on.

The farther out the better. Currently SFTP does not have any rules about this. Put it out 8' if you can. Most others have a 60" rule, Center of front axle to farthest point of weights.

As Mike said about the scales

I would hang a jib boom off the roof of your truck and put the weights out there. That will keep them up high and also put them out far enough to add extra leverage. May want to put a safety strap on them and tie it back to your rearview mirror also. Thats my .02

LOL there is one in every group!!

Most places and 60inch like todd said! Keep them up high and secure. Nothing worse then having a good pull and the getting DQ'ed because you lost a weight on the track.

I like to keep my weights 60" out front and midway up the grill. Keeps them high enough from the scales and I think its easier to load and unload weights when they are waist high:D 1000lbs gets heavy

LOL actually i don't! LOL i just saw a guy do it at the buck this summer. he had an old POS and two 100 wheel weights in the bed of his truck. and he made this really crappy pull and then when they unhooked him from the sled he tried to rip off the track and all the weights slid out the bed and he looked like a total jackass.

I looked for some more of the John Deere weights, but they are hard to come by. I found someone that had these International weights and he wanted some more John Deere weights so we traded and some money.

I forgot to say something to you Saturday, but the IH weights looked great! I was running a new weight rack also. I'll have to take some pics of mine for you. We were drilling the mounting holes for mine @ 2:30 saturday!

6.0- do you have more pics of how you mounted them? did you use the 2(per side) bumper bolts only?

here are some more pics. I have a piece of tube that sticks out of the end of the frame rail and then the rack slides onto that and there is a hitch pin.283

old POS huh? i guess a 600hp truck that runs low 12's and can put 20' on some of the better running trucks in the modified class is a POS because he had a bad run.

also he wasn't ripping it off the track...thats a built DTT tranny with the t-case in low range for ya...when that sucker bangs 2nd even at light throttle it likes to take off.

i still like every jackass with a programmer that has to leave a cloud in the flag mans face when they pull away from the sled after they pull and are 40-50' behind the leaders

i know the guy, and its funny how because its not a duramax or a common rail truck its a POS...but that little short bed VP44 daily driver puts it on alot of guys. he's put quite a few feet on me before so i wouldn't call it a POS.

I refer things as "junks" and "rigs" and people get all huffy with the "junk" comment :pound: I call my own stuff "junk" as well :D I don't look at it as a bad thing, I don't think POS would bother me either :pound: But, that's me.

Did you ever use yours? Even if you ditch them, you still have the receivers that can still be used as tow points. Hitch pin in the receiver will do the same thing :D
